18 Today's Trip
Calculate environmental and economic impact of a given trip by different cars/mobility options
The Paul Scherrer Institute has developed an open source tool for analysing the environmental and economic impact of current and future mobility options: carculator. The aim of this challenge is to allow people to provide inputs for a specific trip (e.g. car type/size class, trip distance, exact route) to see the difference between using combustion and electric mobility in a graphically interesting way. Specifically, we would need to:
- Enhance calculator tool with energy consumption for ascending, and energy recovery while descending
- Add vehicle-specific parameters from one of the public databases
- Get routing from Open Route Service
- Work on a web GUI with nice maps
