For the third time, the HSLU - Open Data Hackdays are dedicated to the topic of tourism in Switzerland. With approx 45 Billion total revenue and 180 000 full time jobs eq. in 2018, tourism is a major swiss industry. Nowadays, not only Covid-19 puts local tourism in a difficult situation, but also the strong Swiss franc limits visitors. Ecological concern, individual tourism, globalization, technological progress, urbanization and mobility are all issues that tourism will increasingly face but also constitute emerging opportunities. To deal with these megatrends, the whole industry must respond with new, innovative and transparent offers and products. At the Tourism Hackdays 2021, we will address these topics and work together, reflecting on transformation processes, analysing existing data and developing ideas and solutions.

The students of the 3rd and 4th semester of the MSc "Applied Information and Data Science" of the HSLU organize this 2-days long collaborative workshop cooperation with HotellerieSuisse, Toursit Office Lab and opendata.ch, . Everyone is welcome to contribute their ideas and knowledge at the "Tourism Hackdays 2021". Programming skills are welcome but not required. If your talents include design, creative, analytical, social or any other topic-relevant skill or interest, then take part to our hackathon and help us rethink Swiss tourism together!
